recognosco, rĕcognosco, gnōvi, gnĭtum, 3, v. a. To know again, recollect, recall to mind, recognize, i. q. recordor (class.; esp. freq. in Cic.): se non tum illa discere, sed reminiscendo recognoscere, Cic.
